𝗠𝗮𝗲𝘀𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗸𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗿 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 In an impressive feat of engineering, Trelleborg has played a pivotal role in enhancing the safety and durability of the Maeslantkering, a critical storm surge barrier near Hoek van Holland. By providing 14 special rubber support points per water retaining door, they've ensured these massive structures can absorb the weight of water effectively, acting like resilient springs. These innovations are crucial, especially during storms, when the doors must close to protect the land from flooding. To address the kinetic energy during door closure, Trelleborg installed 248 meticulously tested fenders within steel containers at the barrier's base. These fenders, a result of extensive research into rubber's mechanical properties, are key to managing the force exerted by the doors and compensating for any construction height discrepancies. The Maeslantkering, operational since 1997 and a part of the Europoort barrier, stands as a testament to advanced engineering and environmental protection. It's automatically controlled by a supercomputer, ready to act whenever flood threats loom, ensuring the safety of the country's inhabitants and infrastructure. #Infrastructure

Trelleborg Marine & Infrastructure reposted this
What a #fantastic day! Started off with a morning session at the Trelleborg Marine & Infrastructure office in #Houston with the #uscg and the #LGCNCOE presenting ESD and hose transfer systems with Matthew Richardson and Ian Stephenson before heading down to the Trelleborg Gas Transfer #Gutteling facility with Rudi den Dulk to carry out a demonstration of a hose #STS #ESD2 separation in front of invited industry experts. A brilliant spectacle, something I’ve never seen before! A long time in the planning between #trelleborg and STS Marine Solutions and successfully executed.
